The sanctuary here at Feathered Friends Exotic bird rescue is made up of birds that for one reason or another won't be able to be placed with the average bird owner. This is due to special needs, aggression, age and many other reasons.
To a rescue this means the bird is an expense that the rescue must carry until the end of the birds life. Please consider taking a look through our "How To Help" page.
Sarah: Blue Crown Conure
Sarah is a wild caught blue crown conure. She was imported wild and used as breeding stock. As you can see she did not adjust to captivity well, and her condition is quite poor. She has permanent folicle damage due to being allowed to pluck her feathers for years and years. She will never be "pet quality," and will remain in my care and sancturary for what life is left to her.
She loves to be outside on top of her cage on the playstand, and she loves watching the other birds. Sarah is obsessed with her ladder, or rather shredding ladders! However Sarah can become suddenly highly aggressive so she will be remaining here with us.

Bambi: Cockatiel
Bambi came in covered in the worst case of mites I've ever seen. She suffers from terrible night frights and panic attacks. With lots of love she now enjoys a good cuddle, and no longer has night terrors. She still does panic quite easily and when she does she can quicly become a threat to herself, so she will be staying here with us. I don't know exactly what happened to Bambi in her previous home, but she was absolutly terrified of other birds, men, children, and any sudden noises. Bambi didn't make so much as a single chirp for a very long time, and is still very, very quiet. She is 15+ years of age.
Goldie and Simon:
Goldie is my first bird. I love her to death. Simon came into the rescue with Simmy and he was so malnutritioned he couldn't even get up to feed himself. He had to be kept under a warmer and hand-fed and hand watered for three days, on top of going to the vet for under the skin hydration for three days. I held simon for basically three days strait. He has fallen in love with Goldie and become bonded with her so he will be staying in the rescue.
